Job Purpose:
 The effective management of the debt book through finalization of the allocated debt
cases within the turnaround times which should lead to the reduction in the debt book
Duties:
 The efficient management by finalisation of a section of the debt book allocated to the
collector within the targeted turn around time
 Profiling of cases and updating same on the collections systems
 Ensuring the achievement of set revenue and case finalisation target
 Effective use of collections tools
 Ensuring that taxpayers are kept up to date with their outstanding accounts by issuing
statements of accounts to them monthly
 Ensuring management and proper allocation of
- Payments
- Debt and Stop Orders
- Taxpayer queries
- General office administration
 Issuing of final demands
 In addition to the functions performed by the debt collector, the specialist collector
should be able to: Collections of complex and high value debt
 Functionally interpret – Financial Statements
 Risk management
 Execute Legal Action up to and including execution
 Input on current policies and procedures
 Training of team members within a team
Knowledge & Skills:
 Financial Analysis
 Legal Aspects of Collections
 Target driven
 Self motivated
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Polite but firm
 Team player
 Excellent verbal communication
Education & Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree or Diploma
- Finance
- Accounting
- Law
- At least 5 years experience
